Gratitude hype: legit or just meh?

Okay, so like, I've seen all these gurus and influencers talking about "gratitude" and how it changes your life, blah blah whatever. Honestly, I tried that whole journaling thing once—you know, writing down three things you're "grateful" for each day. OMG, so boring. I mean, how many times can I thank the universe that my hair stylist hasn't quit, or that Chanel bags still exist?
Anyway, my maman (ugh, bless her basic heart) insists gratitude comes from like appreciating small, boring stuff. She said, "RRiley, it's not always about your Gucci slides or the vintage Merlot. Sometimes it's the little moments." Like what tho?? Waiting in line behind people who don't know their latte order? Or pretending to enjoy conversations with my cousins at family dinners who still think Zara is high fashion? Whatever!
But then, sometimes, after a glass (or three) of Sauvignon Blanc, I do admit—mighttttttttttttt be something there? Like, every once in a while, after shopping binges, wine tastings, or spa days, maybe I feel a tinyyy bit grateful for my flawless taste and impeccable lifestyle choices. Gratitude for myself counts, right? That's gotta be more meaningful than thanking the universe for traffic jams or spinach smoothies (gross).
Tbh tho, is genuine gratitude a real thing or just something bland people made up to feel special? Not that I care, lol. Just thought I'd drop my opinion since clearly everyone needs it.
